Default pioneer elite VSX-01TXH

I was thinking of picking up the pioneer elite vsx-01. Best buy has it on sale for 600 bucks. Would this be a good buy or would i be better of waiting for the new 1909 to come out. Is the low end elite alot better then the top end regular pioneer? thanks

For $600? No, you could not get a better receiver in that price range than the VSX-01.

Then again, as a Pioneer fanboy, this might just be a biased opinion. I could get into more depth as far as the other receivers I've tried, but, no, I still think you could not get a better unit.

What receiver would you recommend at that price. I did like the denon 1909 too but the pioneer just seemed alot better.

There is a guy on ebay that sold them for $469 about 2 weeks ago. I bought one for that and it had been awesome

turns out the open box i picked up has a bad subwoofer pre out. I read elsewhere on other av forums that other users have had the same problem with this unit. Other than that issue it seems to be pretty good. I did notice some judder on the up preview so I will most likely pick up a higher end unit or try another brand. luckily best buy has 30 day return policy, with no restocking fees on any home theatre equipment.

OK so what about a Pioneer VSX-9130 at 900$ THX ultra 2 with all the other blu-ray master DH and more I'am in a dilemma between this one and a Yamaha RXV 863 that I can have for 700$

What would you guy's suggest and please add why, the differences between them not just "go for yamaha" or go for Pioneer" I want to know why???

just get the sc-05 its much better. I returned the vsx-01 for it and am much happier. The on screen graphic interface is much better, more wattage, more HDMI inputs, no hdmi jitter like I noticed on the vsx-01. SC-05 is good at best buy with 12 months no interest. I am using a ps3 as my blu ray player btw.

I'm have the same dilemma as you, i am looking at the yamaha rxv 863 and the VSX-01 and don't know which one to get. The best buys up where I live though are all out of the pioneer. I'm wondering if they have a new receiver replacing it that's coming out soon?

The vsx-03txh is a bit less expensive than the SC-05 and has jitter reduction. Don't get me wrong, if you can get the SC-05, do it. If its out of your budget, check out the 03.

What is the Jitter reduction? Thats really the big difference between the 01 and the 03 besides the extra connections that are of no real use.

I've never actually experienced jitter hopefully showanddrift will stop back in and add to this...

and to be clear, my jitter comment was the 01 vs the 03 and 05.
