It won't do well. They will loose more money than make.

The type of people that shop at wal-mart are also the type of people that like to return stuff. Even computers.

I have not stepped foot into a wal-mart in almost 2 years. I have no plans on doing it anytime soon. They are digusting, nasty, dirty places that down here in VA, breed the most vile of vile people.

Is the money otherwise tight?

Did you watch the season finale of "Loost" last night?

Same difference.
For all intensive purposes they mean the same.
If you think it matters, you have another thing coming.
Frankly, I could care less.

Nah. It's just that people can't spell this simple word correctly anymore. Pet peeve. Even in mainstream publications, websites, and Nero options (!).

Besides, calling all Walmart employees what he did (I have had relatives work there, so...)

PS: It's "grateful" Drinkmore.

Care to point out where I called wal-mart employees - anything? I never did.

I worked for wal-mart when I was 18. Night shift, 8-6 every night. There were some really fun times, but that was because we broke the rules. If any of the stuff we did were ever seen on tape, we would have been fired 10 times over. Then there were crappy times, most of it dealing with the crap wal-mart does.

Like I said, here in VA - wal-marts are nothing but sespools. At least, that has been my experience. I will shop at Target instead.

Target stores are emaculate, smell good, look good and the people there - care about their store. I can find what I am looking for and not have to deal with people I do not like.

^^ I'm inclined to agree with this based on precedent.

One example: Dell tried this back in 1993 or so through Sam's Club and it was an abysmal failure.

What makes them think anything is different now? If anything, the situation will be far worse thanks to the Internet and all that it offers.

From what I read today in the WSJ, all they're talking about is offering <$700 Dimension Desktops and seeing how it floats.

They will sell like hot cakes no doubt because of their price. However it's too great of a risk for any company to do this.

Example -

I go buy a Dell from Wally world. I take it home, remove the ram/hard drive or both. Return it to Wally world and want to exchange it. They exchange it without question and woila, instant upgrade.

I guarantee this will happen. The people who work at wal-mart don't want to be there and last time I heard - wal-mart does not staff technical people to inspect returns of this magnitude.

Here's what happens when there is too much pricing pressure too fast --

LARGER LCD SUBSTRATE NEED questioned as panel makers slash capital budgets, seek better return on investment.

I get a kick out of folks over on AVS who believe that the HD DVD vs BR price competition driving player prices to near-zero as fast as possible will produce a happy outcome. "To hell with those greedy CE companies!", they say. "Bring on the Chinese!".

No one stops to think about the fact that those CE companies must make a reasonable return on their investments in order to invest in new products, the ones we'll want in five years. Without viable CE innovators, we're left with a bunch of third world manufacturers who are incapable of creating new technology, only replicating old.

But, hey! the consumers are happy. Temporarily.

i did the same thing but with a graphics card. i replaced the new one with an old one and put it in the static free bag and then in the box. i went to walmart to return it and the guy looked in the box and saw a card and said okay ill do the return for you. lol. works like a charm. BUT NEVER EVER EVER use a credit card for purchases if you intend to do this. u will be traced. use cash, virtually untraceable.
