Upgrade now or wait? - Blu-ray Forum

I found the TH-50PZ85U for 1299.99 and I was thinking about going ahead and getting it or should I just wait and find a newer model on sale later on.

I currently have a 32" Vizio 720p.

that all depends on you. do you want to wait for the new infinate black panasonics or get that 85 for 1300?

Check out the AVS forums on plasma displays, lost of talks and comparisons between new and old models. They pretty much all say the same thing though...get one of these babies!! I got myself the 50" S1 model and my oh my, what a set

I'm in the identical situation... are the 2009's worth the extra $$$? Even waiting for a sale it appears that they'll be nearly $400 more for a comparable set.

Chris from Cleveland Plasma along with ISF calibrator Chad measured the G10 as having three times better ANSI contrast than the -800 series, with whiter whites and blacker blacks.

Is that worth $400 for you?

also in a similar predicament, although im more worried about 1080p versus some higher resolution...

in other words, how long will 1080p be good for? i know blu-rays are 1080p and HD cable/satellite is 720p, but should i be worried that my new 1080p tv wont be good in 5-10 years?

because frankly, buying tv's every 3/4 years is an expensive habit
