Default Ordered my Panny TC-P50S1 today

And it will be delivered this Friday. I'm really excited as this will be my first 1080P display as well as my first plasma as well as my first big display never had anything bigger than a 32". My first HD tv was a 30" Toshiba crt that was a beast after that I had a Panny 32" LCD and I currently have a Sony 32" LCD. I remember when plasmas first came out and wanted one really bad until I saw the price tags what a let down no way I could obtain one at those prices.

Anyway hope everything goes off without a hitch and knock on wood it arrives safe and problem free.

3 days to go after today.

Not sure which movie to watch first out my collection I'm thinking I,Robot.

You made a great choice! I was really considering buying this set also. It is very feature packed, with a great picture, for a great price. The BB by my house has this set hooked up to a blu-ray player and my does it look nice. Puts my sammy to shame. Shame I tell you!!! Congrats!

That does look pretty good. It compares pretty much with the 800 but with more resolution

You made a good choice. I just bought this tv on Friday and had it set up, ready to go Saturday afternoon and it is amazing. Blacks are very deep and excellent shadow detail. This is my first HDTV also and it is mind blowing coming from a 32" tube tv. If you have a chance watch the T-Rex vs Kong fight scence in King Kong. Awesome!

I'm very happy I went with it instead of going with the Samsung PN50A550 or waiting for the PN50B550. Especially with some of the horror stories I have heard from Samsung owners with broken and/or defective sets.

I've heard that movie looks quite good. I bet with the bright whites and light and deep blues it's one that I will have to see. I actually kinda liked the movie myself.

Yeah King Kong I will have to get.I had rented it and it looked great on my Sony 720p I can only imagine what it will be like on plasma. I will be also getting pitch black and chronicles when its released been waiting for those for a bit.

Yeah happy feet was pretty cool. I really havent watched much animation and havent watched any at all on blu. The only animation movies I have watched is Lion King,Finding Nemo,Robots,Happy Feet,Corpse Bride and maybe a few others but can't think of any off hand.

Well, I have not seen bad PQ on an animated blu ray yet. They just seem to explode on the screen. Maybe it's the colors of the animation, I don't know. Sleeping Beauty is not my kind of film but I bought it for my daughters and I have to tell you that the picture and colors are amazing. Bolt is great too.

I can't wait until my Panny is broke in and I can get it calibrated. What kind of picture will it have with blu rays then, because I think it's great now.

I'm not really sure but try and go to cnet and check out the review on the 800u and do a side by side comparison with the S1.

Keep in mind that cnet does not make any Service Menu changes when they review televisions. They claim to see a green push (I don't see it in mine), but that sort of thing can be fixed within the SM should it exist.

Good to hear, and good luck! I'm actually in the market to replace my 27" Sony CRT flat tube in my master bedroom, and I keep coming back to the S1 series. I will probably go with a 42", though. I've got a 50" Sammy A550 for the main home theater/living room and love it, but I just wanted to change it up.

Yeah I'm aware of that. All they do is basic user adjustments. I hope I dont see it on mine either.

One more day to wait. AAAGGHHH the suspense is killing me as I pray for a safe delivery.

Well I'm getting mine from Best Buy. I was going to order from the web site but went to the store instead since its only 10 min away from me and I was hoping they would have had them in stock but they didn't so it comes from Ohio to the store in Pa then to my house.

Funny thing is they have 257 units at the warehouse but not any at the stores. Don't understand that one.

Got a call today and it will be here between 1 and 3 Friday.

I want a 54" and maybe a 50" would be fine. I have been eying a 58" 800u for quite a while.

I couldnt find it on BB website, what is the retail for the 50" right now?

Amazon has it for 1512
