I love Audyssey too. I don't understand the hate for it here.

Default Onkyo 706

I just got the above in Today, and will set it up tomorrow. I'll see what the Audyssey does, hopefully enhances the AQ - though i'm sure just having a better AVR will do that even before I do the calibration tests.

I use it for having the onkyo 706 to figure the room & speaker placement, but beyond that the levels are crap. I set everything my self and it sounds a 1,000,000 times better. You should do the same, as long as you know what your doing? I'll help in any way I can?

Cool and thanks. My speakers are pretty much staying where they are as I can't really move them, and even with my 505 AVR last nite with the new T90e's, "Transformers" sounded freaking amazing!

Still, I'll see what it offers, etc.

The last time I set up my Denon AVR-3808CI with Audyssey. It set my subwoofer at -12.0. That's right, negative twelve.

Hmmmm.

Depends entirely on what you had it set at. If you had the dial cranked up on the gain, then yeah... it's going to do that.

That's like saying, "I got a speeding ticket even though I was only going 35mph!" Well, that's moot if the speed limit was 25.

I figured I had done something wrong.... I just did not realize it was all that gain cranking.

It's on my to do list to do a fimrware update and try it again.

I'm sure it will sound better.

Yes, I had the pros come out and set it up. Just to set the ground work for a few minor tweaks and then perfection set in!

I don't know, I ran the Audyssey on my 706 and after, it was just awesome. I turned the bass and center speaker up a few points and it's just perfect on all my lossless tracks.

Still seems a bit weak on DD tracks. Maybe that's because lossless is so much better, but my DD tracks seem fairly weak.

Good info also. IF the DD tracks "are" in fact, weaker to you or others, i'm sure with my (almost done upgrading!) all new POLK set-up, a New AVR, etc., Everything is going to sound that much better anyway. So I doubt I'd even notice if the DD sounded off or not. Anyone else encounter that problem?

For me, any perceived weakness was due to a volume mismatch- DD and even DTS lossy tracks needed to be turned up more than their lossless counterparts. I never felt them to be lacking outside of their lossy nature.

Speaking of Audyssey, my denon receiver manual nevers talks about a
Audyssey led on the front, sometimes its red, sometimes green.

Anyone knows what causes the colors to change?
Thanks

+1...I used it just for speaker distances...really very little else.

That's in the manual... If you can read bad translation Japanese English.

Red means that Audyssey Dynamic EQ is active and green means that Audyssey Dynamic Volume Control (Automatically turns down the volume of commmercials) is active. ADVC can only be active when ADEQ is active.
