Default The aspect ratio or the bars displayed on my tv is making me confuse. Please help?

Okay I have a panasonic plasma pz80u and most of my movies play greatly but some movies that have bottom and top black bars are problematic.(ie) Some times the black bars on the bottom of some movies is noticebly larger than the top bar and verse versa. I try to ignore it but it's still bugging and I'm wondering if my tv has a problem. What is the cause of this?

different aspect ratios. don't worry; it's not your tv. it's the way the movie was filmed. if you do a search you can find tons of helpful threads on this.

edit: you can read this sticky here

I don't think you read his post.

As for your TV. That is strange that the bar below is bigger than the bar above...hmmm, sometimes you can change the position of a screen on a monitor maybe you can do the same with the TV you have?

Can you tell us the specific movies? I think I've seen one or two movies that has the aspect ratio weird where the aren't even on the top and bottom but I can't recall off hand. If it's not the films themselves, I have no idea.

Also make sure you don't have any sort of Zoom implemented on your BD player.Somtimes the zomm can create the black bars to be different sizes because it has been zoomed and scrolled.
