it better not be, I just got a 3 month ban for posting a joke and I didn't even start a new thread for it. As for the actual announcement... I don't really care since I already own the SE on the 360, and I sitll haven't got past the first boss.

IGN: Tales of Vesperia Set for PS3

Quote:
US, April 1, 2009 - Namco Bandai is going crazy with the Tales games. Debuting in the latest issue of Weekly Shounen Jump are three Tales titles for three different platforms.

For the PlayStation 3 comes the much expected port of Tales of Vesperia. But not just a direct port! Namco Bandai is adding a new character to the mix, a young pirate girl named Patty Fruel. Patty has a unique way of talking -- she apparently speaks like an old person! In battle, she makes use of knives and guns and is said to resemble the pirate class from Radiant Mythology 2.

Vesperia's PS3 conversion will hit Japan in 2009. It will be joined by a new Tales of Vesperia movie now in production at Production I.G.

PSP is getting an all new Tales game that appears to have taken some influence from Dissidia Final Fantasy. Set for release this summer is Tales of VS, a fighting game featuring characters from past Tales games. The game offers fights for four characters simultaneously, although there's no word just yet on four player simultaneous play. Confirmed characters include Vesperia's Yuri, Hearts' Shing, Symphonia Dawn of the New World's Richter, and Abyss' Luke.

PS3 Vesperia was inevitable. Hope it's a worthwhile port in terms of content.

The scans are real and verified by multiple sources, the only question is if Shonen Jump is pulling a joke, and I seriously doubt it.

Shin is a GREAT mod, and there's already rules in place for April Fool's jokes... so this is real! and I'm EXCITED! I LOVE the Tales series.

I do wonder if they'll bring it over to EU and US or if it'll be JP exclusive.

Neat, those who've played this on the 360, is it any good? I never even looked into it cause...well I don't own a 360!

I've only played a little bit of it, but by all accounts it's a solid entry in the Tales franchise. That means it's pretty darn good, easily one of the best JRPGs in HD. The battle system might surprise you a little if you're expecting a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest; it's real-time, like Eternal Sonata (but deeper and easier).

It also makes for a great game for local co-op, hope the PS3 version has online co-op too.

Sounds promising. Thanks man! I hope it's got online co-op, that would be enough to make this a blind buy for me for sure!

The reason why so people will wait tomorrow before rejoicing is that ToV is (was?) the only S-E game that was pretty much considered a 360 exclusive up to now.

The Last Remnant had been anounced on PS3 already (but lacks a date, or even a year), and Star Ocean 4 is a big blurr on this (but had a PS3 teaser for a while if memory serves here too). ToV was always stated for 360 if memory serves.

Do not get me wrong, it makes total sense to put all the RPGs of S-E on PS3, it just seems weird that they can't even confirm TLR on PS3 at the GDC ("awkward silence"), and then anounce ToV on PS3 1 week later ?

I will rejoice in a few hours from now if confirmed

Man, those 360 screen grabs on IGN look like ass. Valkyria Chronicles absolutely puts it to shame. Does it look better in motion?

Only that the Japanese aren't big into April Fools. Especially Jump Magazine.

ToV is a Namco Bandai game, not S-E.

And Eternal Sonata was once exclusive to 360 as well, also by Namco Bandai. Which came to PS3 later.
So ToV coming to PS3 is not too impossible.

**** yeah! I haven't played a Tales game since Tales of Symphonia and I was kind of jealous of the 360.

I thought it was alright. I played it for a bit then I somewhat lost interst and haven't gone back to playing it. It's your typical RPG, nothing about it really stands out. It does look nice though.
