Default Captions

I may be one of a kind, and I have no trouble hearing but I still prefer to have captions on when I watch a movie.

I hope I am not the only one

Usually no but it comes in handy when there's a whisper or you can't understand someone's accent etc. If you had a "sometimes" option, I'd select that.

No luck with editing a poll. A mod could probably help you out.

I use the captions when I watch movies late at night so that I don't wake up my wife.

No. The exception if films where captions are part of the original film, like, The Longest Day or The Passion of the Christ.

Never; I find them a distraction from the viewing.

For some reason I randomly tried it for Donnie Darko a few years back when I first saw it, otherwise... no.

everyone i know told me i would need them to understand the johnny depp movie where he is the demon barber, but i had no problem without them lol, maybe their speakers just suck

i do watch alot of foreign films, anime, etc..... and in those cases i generally always use captions since no company has realized one person maybe two doing all the voice overs with a badly translated script doesn't work for cinema fans

Generally no but if there's something I can't understand/hear clearly, I'll turn them on briefly to see what they're saying. I do use them with foreign films though.

Not deaf, just hearing impaired so yes I always have subtitles or closed captioning on, glad subtitles seem to be standard on blu-rays.

I'm going to assume you are hard of hearing. Would that be correct? The problem with the medical term, hearing impairment is that it's too broad and include all sorts of hearing loss. Anyone with a hearing loss can say they are hearing impaired. So it doesn't give us a good idea of how severe their hearing loss is.

For instance, I am profoundly deaf. Just saying.
