I have a 32" Olivia LCD, and when playing HD, when there is a scene in a movie when the camera pans across an area, the image stutters and there isn't a smooth transition. is there something i could do to fix this? thanks for your imput!

Its telecine judder. From horizontal panning (left right or right left). The movie is 24hz at the source causing this. If you put your TV to 100hz or in many cases 120hz, the image is just repeated 4 or 5 times to suit the frequency.
If you have a universal disc, the U starts to do it as it pans across from right to left on the main logo at the start of the movie. If at some point movies are made at 48hz, it will go some way to rectify the problem. However, at this stage it seems an unlikely thing to do, since storage would be twice as much for the same material. The other way of course, is to tell the director to stop panning so fast on a horizontal plane. ![]() |

As stated, it sounds like judder, I would make sure that you have the 24p fps on your blu-ray player turned off, then it should send out the picture at 30p or 60p fps, Problem lies in your TV, some TV's (perhaps Olivea) cannot properly handle the 2:3 pulldown that is required to process the 24p fps, to solve the TV issue you would have to buy a different one, any of the major MFG's tend to handle the 2:3 pulldown very well, such as Samsung, Sharp, LG, Panasonic. Sonys all have a native 24p fps. Or you can get a 120hz tv.
