Default New BD drive, all movies are stuttering...

I just installed my Panasonic UJ-120 BD drive and both WinDVD 9 and PowerDVD. Any time I go to watch a BD movie I get some pretty horrible stuttering (every 5 seconds or so the movie will skip). I updated my nVidia video drivers (175.97) and installed all the software that the drive came with. Can anyone help me out? I also have my laptop set up to 5.1 surround sound speakers that have been tested and working perfectly.

My system specs are as follows:
Sager NP9262
Q6600
4GB DDR2 800mHz RAM
nVidia 8800M GTX 512MB
Windows XP Pro with SP3

Oh yes, I tried WinDVD and PowerDVD, but both gave me the same results. I tested The Fifth Element, 300, and Talledega Nights.

sounds like some kind of system resource issue. 6600 though should be more than enough to handle. how much system memory do you have? do you have other applications running, or a lot of stuff running in the background? Virus protection software can hog a lot of resources too. I'd first start with making sure only the default options are selected with your video card, then reboot your machine, shut down as many tray applications as you can, and try again. I have 6600, with 8800 nvidea graphics card 512mb. plus 4 gigs of ram, worked fine with 2gigs of ram too. anything less than 2 gigs you might run into issues.

I didn't have any background resources running that I can think of (except anti-virus), but that ususally doesn't slow my system down any (even when gaming).

UPDATE: I just tried it on Vista, and everything is working perfectly. So it obviously isn't a hardware issue since Vista is a resource hog. Any idea what would be causing this on XP? I used the codec pack from XP Codec Pack (used Vista Codec Pack for Vista).

UPDATE 2: In My Computer, the drive actually shows up as "Blu-ray Drive" in Vista, but in XP it only says "CD Drive." Could this be an indication of driver issues?

Make sure you have the latest SATA drivers for your motherboard. Also, if you do not have XP 64bit, you could be encountering some ram issues since 32 bit OS's only support up to 3.25gb of ram counting video memory.

My AR190G came with 1GB of RAM and XP (32bit) and plays BDs fine.
Ya don't need gobs of RAM to play BDs.

3GB of RAM is still PLENTY to do anything on XP. I will try updating my drivers.
