I'm not sure if anyone is in this club but oh my God their prices on Blu-rays are obscene. You would think that joining the club would give you some kind of deal on Blu-rays but that certainly isn't the case. My wife is in the club and just got the monthly mailing and the big deal on Blu-rays now is if you buy one at regular price (most are $35 + shipping and taxes) you can get another Blu-ray for 10% off. I thought their almost always DVD deal of buy 1 at regular price and get more at 25% off was terrible but on Blu-rays it's down to 10%.
It's really too bad that Columbia House can't get access to the Disney family of Blu-rays since they certainly know how to help out the customer unlike the Disney movie club. It's nice that the Disney club now has Blu-rays available but they really need to get with the program on pricing. |

Yeah it really sucks because there are a good number of Disney Blu-rays that I have on my list to buy but there is no way to get them for a reasonable price in Canada.
For example I want: Pretty Woman Feb 10 ($31 amazon.ca) High School Musical 1-3 (Box Set or 3 separate) Feb 17 ($91 total at amazon.ca) Bolt Mar 24 ($35 amazon.ca) ($30 FS) I'm not paying more than low $20's for any of these. Maybe someday they'll go on sale somewhere in Canada. Last year I would have had all these on day 1 from amazon.com but times have changed. |

I just got out of Disney Movie Club in the US. I can tell you that since they brought in BD's, they've been $29.99 here (plus shipping and tax thanks to being in WI). They had a deal where you could get 3 for $60 and I jumped on it to close out my account.
I recommend to stay out of their club and if you can when they have free shipping or a deal like the above to get on it, get your movies, and get out. |

I've wanted to join the Disney Club for a while, but for the reasons noted, I won't.
I've done pretty well with Ebay in getting Disney BD's. Never paid more than about CAD23 shipped for any. Sometimes it takes a while to get the price you want, so you have to be patient, but usually after the initial new release rush, you can get some deals. It's a shame it has to be such a hassle to get a reasonably priced Disney BD. |

I came out even with if I bought them on Amazon, so I saw it as a win. I'm finally free of them after about a year and a half. If I would've known I was going to embrace BD like I have, I never would've joined there to begin with.

I'm just gonna wait for Bolt to hit the PV section of one of my local Blockbuster's and pick it up at that point. I have a $5 movie buyer's coupon, so i should be able to grab it for $14.99+ tax at that time.

Yeah that's a good plan. Maybe the only way to get Disney titles for reasonable prices.

Yeah, i've been doing that for my Disney titles, because their just too expensive in Future Shop, Best Buy, etc....i actually had picked up Wall-E and Prince Caspian from a local Roger's video when they had a Buy 2 get 1 free promo on PV Blu-Rays a couple months back.

I like many find it hard to find deals on Disney movies, especially animated ones. |

Probably have to get pretty lucky to get something like Pinocchio though. Can't imagine they order too many of a catalog title if any at all. Great idea for new releases though. I'll definitely have to do that with things like Race to Witch Mountain whenever that streets. Thanks for the tip |

I was in BestBuy today and bought Wall-E. It was displayed for 24.99, but scanned for 32.99 at the checkout. And because of the policy of scanning at Best Buy, I walked away with Wall-E 2 Disc Special Edition for $14.99.
Just thought I'd post so that others who might like to take a stab at getting it for $14.99, could. I fell into it by accident, but hopefully some people might be able to take advantage of Best Buy's screw up. I bought it at the Best Buy on Fairway Road in Kitchener... They didn't seem concerned about it so I doubt they changed the $24.99 tag on the shelf. I'm betting this applies to Sleeping Beauty as well, since both were listed for $24.99... |

Disney has a Blu-ray club you can join now, although it still appears to be quite a poor deal. You get 2 Blu-rays for $5 each and need to buy 3 more at regular ($35+shipping) prices in 24 months. You can get one more for $20 and only need to buy 2 more. Assuming you got the "bonus" blu-ray, the cost would be $30 for your first 3 + $80 for the next 2 = $110 for 5 Disney Blu-rays, averaging to $22 each. This might be marginally less than what you would pay for them on sale, but still not a hot deal. They don't have a web site yet, but if you call 1-800-704-9557 and ask about the Blu-ray club, they can transfer you. I might decide to join and hope for some special offers in the future, but I have a feeling I'll regret it if I do.

Any Studio Ghibli releases included in this offer?
ETA: I don't buy many DVDs these days, but I do like Hayao Miyazaki stuff. There are four included among the DVDs on offer. One is Ponyo which I already have on blu-ray. While I would like to pick up the other three, I don't want to commit to buying five more Disney DVDs as I would want the other titles on blu-ray. I guess I'll just be patient and wait for Studio Ghibli blu-ray releases. I know that Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is being released in Japan next month. Hopefully it will be released here along with the other titles in the near future. These titles are better than some of the Pixar titles in my opinion.
