Default What are they doing while you are watching a movie?

I was looking at my firewall traffic logs this evening while watching The Incredible Hulk, and noticed something interesting. I wasn't accessing any BD-Live features, just watching the movie. What exactly are they doing while you are watching the movie? Are they collecting data, like how many times you view certain movies? No conspiracy, just curious.

Maybe it periodically "searches" to see if you're trying to access BD Live???

I don't know anything about the internet

I probably would of noticed it on a normal day. I was setting up a site-to-site VPN at my house and checking the logs for authentication and saw that come up. I didn't know what to make of it. I will have to look at a few different studios to see if they do the same.

It is pretty much saying my Blu-ray player was accessing universalhighdefclub.com without me even knowing about it or accessing special features.

Meh, don't really care. I would just like to know why it is checking in with Universal when playing one of their movies.

I'm assuming it does it when you start up a movie. You've only capture 3 minutes- 7:53 to 7:56. This could be when you're in the menu. Did you see it continue on after that while the movie was playing?

Notice it's just going to the same link (and a Canadian version of the same link) that's a text file. I'm guessing it's just a quick "reach out and touch" hit to see if it's connected to the internet by successfully navigating to a site.

What's interesting is if you type it in a browser it gives up a bad page for me.

Big Brother is watching you.....I knew there was a reason why they wanted that ethernet hooked to the back of the player. I bet it gathers data on what users watch, do you watch the special features, do you access BD-Live, etc. Now if they put this data towards future releases, yea I am for it, but useless data collection I feel is an invasion and I have just unhooked my cable from my player

I'd go with conspiracy. Life is much more fun that way. There's actually a tiny camera in your BD player and it was trying to send live feed of your home to universal

That's exactly what I was thinking, what did you think that green light just meant it was turned on? No, it means live feed in progress. The red light means, no visuals, just collecting audio.

Nope, does it throughout the course of the entire film.
