Default Riser Size ?

My theater is under construction still, but I had a question. What would be a good size riser for the rear seating row. I only have one couch right now and just finished my riser which is currently 10 inches. I am having second thoughts now. Just wanted a few other opinions if you don't mind.

10 sounds good to me. Whatever you think is good for your HT.

But I heard people doing anywhere from 5 inches to a foot.

If you have a 8' ceiling, the maximum height you should go from either your ceiling (hung from the ceiling) or off of the floor should be around 2' or less. I personally made my riser legs 10".

mine is at 6" but i may build an additional 2" ;the 6" is built into the room so i would'nt need more than one step but the back part of the room is now only 7feet to the ceiling

10 inches sounds like a good height. It really only needs to be high enough so the people sitting in the back row can see the screen over the heads of the people in the front row.

LOL, you have subwoofer risers on the brain. He's talking about a step/platform for his second row of seating.

If it helps, a typical stair riser for a flight of stairs is 6.75 inches from top to top. I thought I read that two steps is ideal for each row, so that would make your second row at 13.5 inches.
