Default Question on my Onkyo 606

Hey guys, I have a stupid question that I hope someone here can answer me (crakinheadz I hope you are reading this, since you are always correct and timely with answers). I have seen certain members' galleries and I was wondering if my Onkyo 606 has the ability to have, let's just say the DVD input, changed to Blu Ray. I didn't really see anything talking about this in the owners manual and I thought I'd get a better answer on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can change it in the setup menu of the receiver. First, make sure you are on the input that you want to edit (in this case, switch it to DVD). Go to Source Setup on your receiver. There should be an option for Name Edit. I have the 705 so I'm guessing it's the same on yours. Edit the name to whatever you want and make sure it displays the custom name.

If it's similar to Yamaha, you will indeed have to select the input you want to rename.

I mostly replied to pass along a funny anecdote:

While setting up a system for a customer, I was in the process of labelling the Blu-ray input. This was a hovering customer, watching my every move. I had the first two letters selected, and all he saw on the disply was

Bl

at which point he promptly asked me what exactly I was writing. It wasn't until I looked back at the screen after puzzlingly having explained myself that I noticed he thought I may be rather following Bl with TCH, no u-ray. Funny story I thought I'd pass along, now that it has very remote relevance!

I'm not sure. If I'm not mistaken you can't rename the inputs on the 605 model. That was feature of the higher models. I don't know if this was added to the 606 or not. If this is incorrect I hope someone will let me know.

just thought i would drop by and let everyone know that you can't rename the inputs on the 606. i tried for an hour then happened to check the avs forums and found a poster that has both the 606 and 706 and can only change the inputs on the 706. thank you to all that gave information to me, as i do greatly appreciate it.
