My television apparently has a firmware version that restricted the optical audio out to just 2 channels! (only alternative audio out is stereo analog out). This is a "feature" they included in the latest firmware!
Are there any lines, models or brands that I should look for for my next LCD HDTV purchase that don't include this "feature" ... so that I can enjoy multichannel 5.1 audio from OTA HD broadcasts? Thanks for your help ![]() |

That actually is very common in most hdtv's. They simply don't want to pay Dolby royalties. The best solution is to run audio directly to your receiver. Oh wait..... you said OTA signals..... MOST tv's should allow 5.1 audio from OTA broadcasts if they are actually sent in 5.1.... curious.... what model is it? Last edited by Uniquely; 04-14-2009 at 06:37 PM. |
