Default If combo players were to become the norm would neutral studios go format exclusive?

Paramount should have used a 50GB disc for Coming to America so higher bit rates could have been used. The HD-DVD format had 5GB more of space to work with since Paramount only did a 25GB disc release for BLU-RAY.

Proving once again that not all high-def transfers are created equal, 'Coming to America' comes to Blu-ray using the AVC MPEG-4 codec, and to HD DVD using the VC-1. While more often than not, the results of such split transfers are negligible, in this case, the HD DVD VC-1 transfer has slightly richer colors and sharper details than its Blu-ray AVC counterpart.”

The bad thing about combo players:
If combo players become very popular then people might just start buying the Warner and Paramount releases on HD-DVD if the BLU-RAY releases from Warner and Paramount are not as good of quality. Combo players if they became the norm one day then this could cause Warner and Paramount to one day only release in the HD-DVD format. Of course the average consumer is not educated that some Warner and Paramount titles in the HD-DVD format are slightly better quality sometimes in the areas of video and audio. Sometimes the BLU-RAY disc is better quality.
** At the very minimum format neutral studios should release the same picture and sound track on the BLU-RAY disc. Of course I hope one day Paramount and Warner will take advantage of the better quality BLU-RAY format and release higher bit rate movies on 50GB discs not just using 30GB of the 50GB discs. **
