Default energy speaker questions

im looking to buy new energy fronts to go with my c-c100 and got a couple of questions.
i found some energy xl:25's on kijiji, he is asking $275 for the pair, is that a good price if they are in good condition? will they go good with my center?
and another question, does the energy connoisseur line go good with the c series?
any help would be much appriciated

Are you looking for towers or bookshelves for your fronts? I assume towers as that's what you're looking at now.

You want to get speakers that are timbre matched to your center. For towers that would be either the C-300 or C-500. I believe most here wouldn't recommend using miss-matching speakers across the front. If you really wanted those XL-25's I would look into finding the matching center speaker.

As for the RC series, I think you would find that they outperform the C-series as well. I have limited experience with the C-series but I find the RC line to be a much cleaner, smoother speaker. AVS has an extensive thread on Energy speakers and they may be able to help you more. The Energy ownership on this forum is pretty light.

Good Luck with your searching.

the best thing to match that center you have is either the C-300 or C-500 as DeadDog stated. Sorry I don't know any canadian web sites that sell speakers, but you may have to hurry, the C line is being discontinued and people in the States are selling out quickly.

Unless you are willing to endure the constraints of not having timbre matched fronts, you will just have to stay with the C-series. There are no other choices in the Energy line for matching the C-C100 center.

Not even the new entry level CF series towers matches it. However, I have heard that the CF series has a brighter sound. Assuming that is true, I would stay away from them.

I have also heard that the RC series is going to be discontinued. The prices for those will likely plummet as it did for the C series. But I don't know how soon that will be. If you really want to experience the Energy standard for natural, neutral sounding speakers and not spend a heck of a lot, the RC towers and matching RC mini center are going to be it in my opinion since those are still around. Finding a pair of C-500s or C-300s to match your C-C100 is not going to be easy and like Callas said, time is running out. Good luck.

+1 Agree Completely with the above quote. Now granted I have the mini-centre mathced with my C-500's but I barely notice any issues with my front soundstage. I had the opposite issue, trying to find the center after having bought the C-500's... Good luck and if you happen upon a pair of 500's or 300's, you'll be very happy with the sound.

I just joined the ranks of Energy owners. I went with 3 identical speakers for the front. I got RC-70's for front left/center/right. I got RC-R's for side and rear surround duties.

I had heard that the RC-R's might not be being made anymore but haven't gotten any confirmation on that yet. I didn't want to chance not being able to find them later on so I just went ahead and got them now. I also didn't want to have to try and find surrounds that would match my RC-70's and not be able to.

What about these? I don't know what color your Center channel is but it appears that you can still get some C-500s here.

Yes, I'm gonna raise the screen up. I'm also wanting to sell my current scren and get a 2.35.1 aspect size screen.

Have any of you heard the RC-R's? I think it's really cool they can be either bipole/dipole/or mono.
