Default Klipsch sub12 not enough?

So my bedroom is 12x15, not a huge room by any means and i got a good deal on the klipsch sub12 but maybe its just me but it doesnt seem to fill my room very well ive tried moving it all around the room and its better now and i can move around and it doesnt really seem any stronger anywhere else in the room so i dont think its a posistioning issue. should i get a second one or should i just upgrade to something better? In my car which i like the way it sounds/how loud it is, is my Alpine type R on a 600wrms amp and in a car its brutal (140db) i was at a static-x concert the other night and my car reminds me of a concert with bass that you can feel hitting your chest but my home system is alot cleaner regarding the mids and highs but the low end seems lacking. How big do i have to go to really fill a room my size?

I have a 12'x14' bedroom that my setup is in and I have an A2-300 and a DIY subwoofer. If I were you, I would get a 15" ported sub (DIY or pre-done) or an 18" sealed from eD (the A7s-450). I would either sell your Klipsch for the extra money or keep it and purchase one of the subwoofers I mentioned for a dual subwoofer setup (not for SPL but for bass evenness throughout the room).

If you think "More bass = Better" then by all means, upgrade, or add additional subs.

I like it balanced dont get me wrong, my monitor 70's drown out the sub and after being to that concert recently it does have that feel to it, you cant feel that punchy bass, its got the deep low end stuff but its missing a punchy bass that my car system def. has and that i felt at the concert.

i have tried my monitor 70s on full range and set to 80hz crossover.

is there any settings on my onkyo that could be messing this up?

i was thinking of getting a second sub 12

i really dont have room for a 15 or a 18 unfourtunetly, also my sub handles the low end stuff pretty well its the upper mid punchy bass that im missing

i dont know how much metal any of you listen to but if you have ever heard something like korn or static x they have have alot of bass but it isnt deep low bass

I'd be curious to know your settings on the receiver before anything else. Also, just a quick note, do you have the x-over on the sub turned all the way up?

Turn both your sub and receiver crossover up to 120hz. That should help a lot. That and double-bass.

I listen to mostly Metal and I know exactly what you are talking about. Part of it has to deal with your settings:

I wanted the exact same thing you are talking about when I was looking for a new sub. When I got my A2-300, it was nice, but not enough. After toying with my settings, I've found this to work best with Metal

Cross your 70s at 60hz.
Turn the crossover on your sub all the way to max (120hz)
Turn the LPF on your Onkyo up to max which is 120hz
When you run audyssey, if you do..don't change the distance on the sub, this helps with phase.
If you like, when listening to music, turn double bass with the fronts set to large.

And lastly, it has to deal with the source material. Dynamic range is key and with the Loudness War as bad as it is (even though it's getting somewhat better) the kick drum and lower bass will never sound like it does live. It sucks doesn't it. I've found the best live DVD on terms of dynamic range for a metal band. It happens to Avenged Sevenfold: Live in the LBC. I don't know if you like them..but with the settings I just told you..that same chest pounding feeling you get at a concert, I get in my 13X12 room. And I've seen them enough live to know how similar it is

This is exactly what I tried to oversimplify. That is a much better post than mine. If you want real kick, you may want to look at 15" or 18" subs, regardless of size. Two to four 12" subs may also sound nice.
