Firmware Necessary - Blu-ray Forum

I just bought a magnavox blu ray player from walmart for 198. There is no planned firmware upgrades. I was just wondering if the fact that they are no formware updates coming should that effect my future playback. I don't want a player that will be soon obsolete.

By the way I just my first blu ray movie, Transformers. It was amazing.

Just because there isn't a firmware update doesnt mean the player is bad. There might be a update released later in the year or if they need to fix a bug or something. I wouldnt worry.

just because there are no firmware updates planned doesnt mean it wont happen
if a playback issue is discovered for the player they may release a firmware update when necessary
i wouldnt worry too much about it

Most likely Magnavox will post firmware updates as its needed. Never seen a bluray player not have any updates.

Which one did you get? the 2510 or the 2511? Both have had firmware updates and both are supposed to have a firmware update this spring based on what people have heard from their tech support.
