Default trouble with Blu-ray movies

Hi I have a PS3 and a Sony Bravia 1080p LCD tv. I have had both for about 6 months and in last couple of weeks while watching blu ray movies I'm getting a lot of flickering lines down the left side of TV ranging from 2-4inches which are horizontal. I don't notice them on regular movies at all. I bought a blue ray lens cleaner but didn't help. any suggestions?

thanks

Paul

Going through a receiver at all?

Be careful with lens cleaners- they're not all that and can mess stuff up. I would recommend seeing if it ever comes up in games, or with DVD's through your PS3- anything where you're using the PS3 but not blu-ray. I would also try a different HDMI cable as well as checking your connections.

What movies has this happened with?

ok i have tried normal movies and games and it works fine. I tried call of duty 5 which is a 1080p game and it also was fine.

this all started when i watched sin city so i thought it was just a bad movie. I have never had this problem before with batman begins and dark knight which are movies that i own and now I do.

I just bought Hulk vs wolverine and Bolt which also are affected by this.

It sounds like the blu-ray drive in your PS3 may be going out. I'd be curious to find out what happens if you tried playing a blu-ray game, like MGS 4 or Resistance (1 or 2). I'm not sure if COD 5 for the PS3 is a blu-ray game or not.

I didn't realize that. Thanks for the correction. I thought multi-platform games were still on regular discs, like they would be for the Xbox360 version.

Fire eater, if you have a friend with a PS3 try the discs on his machine and see if they play fine there and also try discs of his that play fine on his PS3 on your machine. Also check your connections, trying a direct one PS3 > HDTV if you're using a receiver. Also try your PS3 on your friend's TV and viceversa if possible. This may help you determine whether your unit or TV might have gotten faulty. Then a call to Sony.
