Default Black Out Cloth - Or, well, Really really black cloth that acts as a light filter

Where could I find such a material?

Preferably, not too expensive. Is it something as easy as going to a Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michael's?

Don't ask why yet. It's part of a grand scheme.

Yes, it is that easy. I got some at the JC Penny home store! The ladies in the Window Treatment department won't steer you wrong ! In The Counts voice "ONE TOO THREE AH HA HA" !
Had to do that, The Count he was my favorite when I was a kid.

This would be good to know if it has a higher WAF than the 3'x5' piece of plywood I put over my window well last weekend.

Maybe for turning your room into the Batcave and perhaps adding a home theater projector?

I think he's planning on creating a false-wall......

But... for that size..... you'll have to "Special Order" something... not sure Jo-Anns is going to cut it for you....

I would buy the standard size, in a long-enough piece, and sew it together

Have you thought about using "Canvas drop cloths" I was picking up some plastic tarps... and saw these at the Home-Depot.... they're basically "dirty-white" looking tan etc..... and they're woven etc... and probably block light pretty well..... but they're fairly cheap.

EDIT:

Whatever you decide to use JJ.... just remember.... you really have to weight her down, or she'll float to the top when she bloats up

Damn, beat me to it. I was just going to say the same thing. Ya know JJ... I'm pretty sure forum posts can be used as evidence of premeditation.

Fidelio black velvet is thought to be the blackest of the "black out cloth" out there, and is frequently used in home theater builds. So much so, that it is frequently out of stock. Check here http://www.bymichelle.com/fidelio.html. It's not cheap ($24.95/yd), but it is the best of the best.

Here is a comparison pic of Fidelio vs speaker cloth vs GOM vs commando cloth, all black (left to right):

"How much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black."

I went to e-bay and typed in Muslin backdrop, and you'll find tons of them for photography backgrounds....really nice ones for around $50.00-$60.00.....

Would black fabric like this be useful for a section of wall behind a projection screen? Or is matte-black paint ok?
