Default Sin City 2

Quote:
May 5, 2009 - IGN recently had the opportunity to speak with director Robert Rodriguez, who was promoting the long-awaited release of Sin City on Blu-ray. We couldn't help but ask Rodriguez if the resurgence of the 2005 film, based on Frank Miller's graphic-novel series, is fueling the buzz for the proposed sequel. There's been talk of a follow-up film practically since the first one was released, but according to Rodriguez, it's starting to look like it might actually happen.

"People have been talking about Sin City 2 since the first one came out," Rodriguez said. "Whenever I'm out and about, people say, 'When's Sin City 2 coming? When's Sin City 2 coming?' They've been asking that for years. So this probably will add to that, certainly."

Rodriguez added that he had a few other commitments he had to complete before moving on to Sin City 2, but he is beginning talks with his creative team and could begin filming as early as next year.

"I actually had a phone call with some of the players in it today, but I was on a plane so I missed it," he said. "So next week we're going to talk about it some more and get a timing on when we'd be doing it. But there's a lot of people who are interested in it. ... We are definitely going to do that one.

As for the story in the film, Rodriguez said that it will include the Sin City story "A Dame to Kill For" as well as new additional material written by Miller himself.

"There's a lot of stories," Rodriguez said. "That was sort of the approach I took to it. That's why there's three stories in the [first] movie, because I thought, 'I love this material, but gosh, what happens if it's not successful and I don't get to make a part two and part three. I still want to see "The Big Fat Kill" and "That Yellow Bastard."' So I wanted to put them all in one movie so I could at least get some of these stories out of my system. But there's still so many books and so many stories to do."

Wow.. We'll have to see how far this one gets off the ground. Hopefully this is all true, and we will finally see Sin City 2!

Not likely with all the movies he's got in the pipeline, especially by early next year? After Nerverackers, than comes Predator, and apparently he's still talking The Jetsons, and hoping he can do Barbarella. That's a lot to be involved in within the next 10 months or so.

So add a three or four more years, and by then everyone will forget that Sin City 2 was ever a thought in some producers mind..

Hell it's already been what 6 years since the first one? So yeah by the time it comes out I don't see it being in such demand. The technology isn't as astounding as the first time around, just look at what happened with The Spirit.

The technology is still relevant, but by the time this gets made (if ever), who really knows. As far as The Spirit goes, the movie was gorgeous (and of course the girls). The quality of the movie itself? Well, that's another story in my opinion. That wasn't the fault of how the movie looked though.

They have waited waaaay too long for this one. Don't see much hype for it when they do get to it.

Haha oh well, it just seemed like way way longer than that. Guess it hasn't been all that long, but still the tech is not longer groundbreaking and I for one, would just wait for the BD premiere to check it out, definitely not gonna see it in theaters.

While promoting the Blu-ray release of Sin City, Robert Rodriguez told MTV that his planned Barbarella adaptation is officially dead.

"It came to the point where [a company from] Germany offered us a $70 million budget, which would have been by far the biggest budget I ever would have had for a movie," he explained. "But I had to shoot it in Germany and post it in Germany. Nothing against Germany, but I have five kids and I was like, 'God, I don't know if we can do that. I don't know if I can be away that long.'"

"It was a real bummer," he added. "We had all this artwork and screen tests of what it would look like. It was a really cool, R-rated, sexy — almost like that [1981 animated] movie, Heavy Metal—version of a Star Wars movie. Something that no one ever could get to see. It was gonna be really great."

Rodriguez hopes to one day release the artwork just so fans can see what he was planning.

This sounds like a shame, actually. Pulpy cinema is something Rodriguez does well, and the original 1968 Barbarella was a wonderful exercise in cinematic pulp for its day: a kitschy blend of Flash Gordon and Forbidden Planet, with a healthy dose of Valley of the Dolls tossed in.
Good, I don't want that w***e Rose McGowan in anything else. She's annoying. If you were to do a remake of Barbarella, get Elizabeth Banks.

Sin City 2 to Move Forward After Spy Kids 4
How many times can you be told something is going to happen before the promise loses all meaning? With Sin City 2, that question is being put to the test. Time and time again it’s been said that the film is gearing up for production—at one point it was supposedly written and ready to shoot, then it was put on the backburner, then it was ready to go again, then it sounded like it might not happen, then it was teased yet again—and for years, it’s been all wait and no reward.

At this point, we probably shouldn’t be casting more fuel onto the fire, but for those who still haven’t given up hope on a sequel, director Robert Rodriguez has updated its status, saying he intends for it to be his follow-up to his next project, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. Read what he had to say after the break.

The brief update on the sequel comes from The Playlist, who found it during a Facebook livechat for Grindhouse, in which Rodriguez said, “Frank Miller and I are working on it. It’s slated to be the next one.” Ah, but there’s an asterisk. “But if the script is not ready, then we’ll have to move to the next one.”

Meaning, the future of the film is largely dependent on Frank Miller. If he can clean up the script in time, it might not be too long before Sin City 2 actually makes it in front of cameras. And if such a thing were to happen—knock on wood—there’s a possibility that Bruce Willis‘ character would return as well (in what I presume would be a story that takes place prior to the Yellow Bastard tale in the first film). Says Rodriguez: “I wanna bring him back for Sin City because he’s so bad-ass.”

Rodriguez also added a rather non-committal response regarding whether or not Hell and Back—the longest of the Sin City stories that was once said to be the plot of Sin City 3—would be incorporated into Sin City 2, saying only, “It’s quite possible.” Was Rodriguez just being coy, or does this mean he and Miller still haven’t worked out which storylines they’re going to be using for the sequel?

Hope this turns out true! I've been waiting forever for a second one

The fact that it's taking this long and that the 2 best actors from the original film are dead mean my hopes for the second film have waned away to almost nothing.

I guess this means there won't be a Deadpool, at least not from Rodriquez

But I guess Yay! for Sin City, I did really like the original but I think too much time has passed now.

: Sin City Sequel Moving Forward; New Details Revealed!

Quote:
During the panel at San Diego Comic Con, director Robert Rodriguez has revealed some new details regarding the long-awaited sequel to Sin City. Check it out!
It seems that this is the year when Sin City 2 might actually happen. During the panel at SDCC, Robert Rodriguez shared some new info on the process and working with Frank Miller.

From Cinema Blend:

"If it's going to happen, it's going to happen this year," Rodriguez just told the assembled Comic Con crowd of Sin City 2, which he says is still in the script process but promises he and Miller are as close to making it as they've ever been. He's basing it on three separate stories by Frank Miller, who co-directed the first movie and whose graphic novel inspired the original. One of the stories is called "A Dame to Kill For," another is called "The Long Bad Night," and the third is being kept under wraps for now.

There you go! This is great news for everyone who liked the first film and is hoping to see a sequel. I loved the first one (and honestly, I think almost everyone did) so I can't wait to see this. So, are you looking forward to another Sin City film?
