Default my 131" DIY screen for my HD65

got this done this weekend. my buddy is amazing at this. onto the pics.

this was what it looked like before. notice its just a flat wall.

we made a frame out of 7" crown. the seams on this thing are flawless.

then we put it on the wall. it fit perfect.

then i threw on some movies just to see how everything lined up. it was flawless.

then i painted the border today. it has some texture to it but you cant see it.

It's held together with wood-glue, and Bud-Lite I see

Yeah, looks great.... using the Crown-Molding was a great idea. I may have to steal it!

Really nice! I might also steal your crown-molding idea (when I'll a projector)!

Just to clarify, you just painted the wall for the actual projector surface, right? Did you use a particular type of paint, or just white?
Regardless, it looks awesome. I like the frame idea and will likely steal it (or a version thereof) when I replace my pull-down with a larger, fixed DIY screen (thinking of a Wilsonart laminate jobbie)...

Are those CMT series speakers??? what subs are those? (going off topic here )

also.... In the close up (of the wood-glue and bud-lite ) I see the texture on your walls..... IT LOOKS GREAT..... my walls were already textured in the room that is now my movie-room.... but nowhere near as nice as that...

did you do that? did you have it done? If so, was it a plaster method, or was it a texture process with a pre-coating, and after-coating of paint formulas to create the cracked look?????

Looks great though.... love the small details obviously

EDIT:

Man it looks like concrete walls! it looks great!

our house is only a year and a half old. all our walls are textured like that. its funny you ask that question because ive been noticing how shitty the texture is everywhere i go these days

i have no idea. all the houses around here have it so its a pervasive theme in this area.

Awesome idea...that I would have never guessed to do. Something I may have to think about doing as well.

Thanks for sharing!

Default Awesome Job!!

I hope you "took care of" your friend properly! A case of his beverage of choice, Best Buy Gift Card, something (!), lol. that looks awesome - 131"!! - just need some more gallery pics, list of gear, the usual. Very Nice - congrats.

Look to the left under the user's name - there's a link to "HT Gallery" and if the number is more than 0, then they've got some images up. As for adding your own, click on your own link and "upload images". Enjoy!
BTW, like you I lurked a long time before figuring it out

It looks like sprayed on texture. Almost every home in Florida built in the last 10 years has it on the ceiling in a thinner coat. The generic term is "knock down" because it is usually sprayed on then a wide scraper is lightly pulled across the surface. That looks like a thick layer of texture without the knock down step. Looks great, and love your DIY screen.
