Wasn't sure where to ask this.
![]() Does TNT do something weird with their movies to cause the choppiness (or is it judder?)? They're prety much unwatchable. So last night on my Pioneer 5020 I changed the Pure Cinema setting from Advance to Off which seemed to help. But the thing is before I got the 5020 I'm pretty sure I was noticing this choppiness with my XBR960 (which is a 1080i set). Also, it looked like it was just the movie that was funky last night, commercials looked fine I think. |

i cant stand to watch any tv movies because they always chop out bad words or bad scenes to make them pg rated. then they go and throw in commercials. the picture quality varies on the movie but i never can make it through an entire movie.

Food network does this too. I have no idea what aspect ratio they film in when they convert from SD to HD, because it's definitely stretched out horizontally and in standard definition, but when I change my TV settings to go 4:3 it looks squished now. The actual picture size is 16:9 but the source material is partially stretched out to accomodate it. It's gross.

HI,
I receive TNT both analog and HD from Brighthouse networks. The HD is indeed much better in both sound and picture. I enjoy the reruns of Law and Order as well as a movie now and then. The basketball is outstanding. I suspect that some of the distortions you are seeing are caused by your cable box settings and your cable system. I see all sorts of weirdness here. It is most obvious when watching the local news in HD. I believe this might improve somewhat when all the analog channels go away and every thing is produced in digital. However, there is sooooo much 4/3 and non HD content out there that it will never go totally away. HERB |

TNTHD is a hit or miss in terms of quality... I happen to flip over just as The Rock as ending last week and I was amazed at how great it looked... By far the best looking movie I have even seen on TNTHD... LOTR look pretty good as well...
