Killed it for me. My OCD wont allow such a thing. I was leaning towards the individual releases anyways, but saw the first few pics and thought it was overall pretty nice. Then saw the last pic with the discs having the original art instead of the box set art like the others and it killed it for me completely. Sigh. Individual releases for sure now.

I'm sure that's a pricing error at Walmart.com, but it's been that way for a month so I guess they're not going to figure it out. All the other individual BDs are $18.86, only Seven Year Itch is $8.86 - that's their price for the new 7/31 Marilyn DVD releases. Folks must have bugged the heck out of Amazon to get them to price match it.

I'm going to pick up the Dutch release today. I havent seen any detailed pics from other releases but as far as I can judge we're getting the most gorgeous packaging of all the releases. A very thick cardboard cassette with a window which doubles as a photo frame and some additional postcards. I havent seen it unwrapped but I'll post some pics when I got it.

Right, so I went out and bought the (Dutch) set yesterday.
I must say that I was a bit disappointed about the contents of the box at first since there's no info on the movies whatsoever and the Misfits and Some Like It Hot movies are having the same disc labels as the single disc versions. But then I read that even the US version is having the same flaw so they've probably decided to save money on that and not do a re-issue just for this box set.
The box is very nice and a lot of detail went into the way you take the inner box out of the slipcover and the way you can push up the blu-ray case through a hole in the bottom of the box (see pics). The way the box is designed to use as a picture frame is very nice and you can use the 4 postcards to choose the cover picture you like best.
The booklet contains no useful information and was probably added just to include the original artwork of the 2 "books" containing the discs in the US version. All in all a very nice release although content wise they could've added a LOT more than this.
Anyway, here's the pics I promised earlier:

Thanks for those pics NISEI! I wonder if the US box set is as sturdy looking as yours! Shame we don't get something with the classic poster artwork on the films also.

The U.S. set is not as sturdy nor does it look that good!

I hate the cardboard pockets. The Dutch version appears to be the way to go to keep the discs safer...

Yea, it looks like if you want to go "box set", the Dutch version has a better storage solution. I went with the "individual cases" option, but the Dutch version at least stores them in a more traditional, and in my opinion, better and safer solution.

In defense of the US release, at least they are pockets and not book pages like some other sets. It seems pretty easy to get them in and out from the pictures that were posted. Not as easily as the Dutch release obviously, but better than I expected.

Default Marilyn the Premiere Collection dvd set?

Has anyone bought Marilyn The Premiere Collection dvd set? or know anything about it? It has 17 Marilyn Monroe movies and came out the same time as Marilyn Forever Blu-ray. I was trying to figure out if they are new digitally remastered transfers, or if they are the same dvds that came out in the Diamond Collection just repackaged. I don't want to re buy them if they are the same as the dvd's i already have

Walmart has the individual releases (minus Some Like It Hot and The Misfits) for $9.96. I picked up Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How To Marry A Millionaire.

Default Aus version

I live in Aus and usually toss up between getting the US or Australian releases of box sets... more often than not opting for the US release... we usually get boxsets that don't match the US quality sets in the slightest, and they're usually more expensive too.

I however, after much deliberation, purchased this set in Australia a few days ago - without seeing proper US boxset art, which might I add, is usually a must... but I was so excited! - Anyway, happy to say... I'm much much happier with the Australian release after having seen box art for the US release.

Firstly, each "Book" is actually a regular DVD case, which means the discs are much better protected than they are in the slip-like holdings in the books, which I fear would cause scratching.

Secondly, with the Aus version, the disc art on Some Like it Hot and Misfits (the two previously released films in the US, bot not in Aus) actually matches the rest of the discs! Which is great, coz I'm anal... as you can probably tell.

Thirdly, it only cost $60... a bit cheaper than the US release price of $74

Fourthly, we get a nice little booklet with ours... not that great and definitely not a 'must have' but a nice little inclusion!!

This set has a pretty hefty price tag. Right now, "The Seven Year Itch" BD is available for pre-order at Amazon for only $8.86. If you can get the other 6 movies for the same price or less, then it's actually cheaper to buy these separately.
