one of the Basic Instinct movies has Linear PCM not sure if its 1 or 2, leaning more towards 2 though

LPCM = PCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) the way most digital signals are recorded (CDs are PCM)

Maybe you meant uncompressed PCM as opposed to lossy compressed DD and DTS or lossless compressed DolbyTHD or DTS HD MA?
