She walks in, looks at my DIY anamorphic lens/housing, looks at me and says "That not permanent, right? Cause its ugly". I havent even told her I need to make a BIGGER screen. Wonder how that'll go over...

A few nights on the couch will be well worth it.
It works pretty good so far. Need to build my 2.35 screen and dial everything in before I can truly comment on the end result. I got the prisms from Precision Crystal. I have a family friend who has an eyeglass company. He put the AR coating on it for me. All in all, I am please with the whole project. As for my wife... |

You couldn't have moved the projector back (zoomed in some if needed) and mounted the housing on the ceiling where the projector is currently mounted?

![]() I would suggest painting or covering the piece of wood, perhaps if the entire set-up was white, she would not have noticed or commented. Another idea is looking to see if you can find more decorative L-supports, perhaps some with the "leaf" theme to match the wall decoration! Trying to place the supports where the projector support is located would also be a good idea. Good Luck!! Oh and by the way the comment about "No BALLS in the house" was a bit below the belt!! ![]() ![]() Last edited by vega2K; 05-21-2010 at 04:49 PM. |

I have since painted the bare wood, the pic was taken during my test fit.
I cant move the projector, as the Optoma HD65 has dismal zoom. I would be more than happy to get a pro lens/pro install. Please make your donation payable to... I have found a way to make the whole unit removable when not in use. So the appearance should no longer be a major issue. |
