Not all Blu-ray Discs have 640k DD tracks.

They can have up to 640kbs DD tracks.

A good example of reusing the DVD's Dolby Digital track are the Harry Potter blu-ray's. When they first came out on blu-ray I still was using an AVR that was pre-HDMI and had to use an optical cable. I remember at least one of those movies had a 448 kbps track, though most did have 640 kbps. Warner seems to be the leader in releasing movies on blu-ray with substandard soundtracks. I do find 640 kbps Dolby Digital tracks sound better than a dvd of the same title using the 388 or 448 kbps track. I still cannot believe that Warner released Interview With A Vampire on blu-ray with a plain Dolby Digital mix. The original dvd had a 788 kbps dts track, and I refuse to buy that or any other title again until there is a lossless audio track offered.
