I want to order Trick r' Treat from Amazon, but it's on backorder. I looked online and it's at Best Buy for like $35, that's insane to me! If I brought a print out of the price on Amazon (currently $22.99) to Best Buy, would they match this price?

Best Buy generally does not price match online stores. Once in a while you can get lucky and get a cool manager but generally no. You could also print out the target online price which uses the amazon prices. I have had some luck getting price matches that way.

Here is how you can get BestBuy to match Amazon, I have been doing this for almost 2 years and it never fails.
Look up the same movie on Walmart.com and in 90% of the cases, Walmart would have already matched or beat Amazon on 1000's of products including movies, so in your case just print the page below from Wally's website showing the $22.86 price, and BestBuy associates will match it in most cases no questions asked ![]() http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12322998 In case they give you a hard time at first, just be sure to explain that your local Wally store stocks this movie at this price as well as being able to do a free site-to-store pick up, that will shut'em up. Enjoy... Last edited by DAMNSAM77; 10-20-2009 at 09:13 PM. |

Let me correct my above statement...the only only website my local Best Buy will price match is its own (bestbuy.com).
They also let me price match Magnolia Home Theater (I think it is) when Watchmen, Gran Torino, and I Love You, Man were $14.99 each a couple of weeks ago. I was happy/surprised with that! |

I've never tried matching Amazon, but the three Best Buys I go to all price match walmart.com with no hesitations. I just simply print out the page with the price and bring it in. Not once have they even verified the price online.

Um, no, I haven't noticed that. Best Buy tends to have some pretty good deals on Blu-Rays. Quite often when Amazon drops prices on Blu-Rays, what they're actually doing is matching Best Buy.

The company policy for Best Buy is they will price match any local competitors price that is either in their weekly add or in some cases can be verified by calling the store. In either scenario they are supposed to verify the competitor has it in stock before matching the price most rarely do that step.
However Managers have a bit of leeway in this policy as every item Best Buy stocks has a lowest sale price set in their system and any Manager at their discretion can sell it for that price with reason. They can only go lower for damaged, open box items and clearance items. If you get a manager who is more concerned about following the policy odds are you won't get a price match. Where as if the manager is more concerned about his daily sales figure odds are you will get the price match. The later works better on slow sales days than it would on a busy weekend. Also make sure to speak to a manager on this never take the customer service rep, sales person or supervisors word for it. They are trained to say no to everything. |

Maverick, I highly recommend you ditch your near by BestBuy and travel a little further to another location which would be a lot more flexible. I have hit nearly all the Best Buy stores in the Denver metro area and I have yet to have an associate or a manager turn down a price match with Walmart's site. I will also respectfully disagree with someone else's statement that BestBuy's service has become worse since CC's closure. I think next to Walmart, Best buy is second best with good customer service. Funny thing is that almost everytime I bring a print out from Walmart.com to Bestbuy, the BB associate will pull it up on Walmart's site to confirm, which tells me that they are using Wally's site as a reference for price matching. Plus with Wally's Site-to-Store free shipping, it becomes equivelant to BestBuy's free in-store pick up. So it's apples to apples. As stated above, I recommend you try your luck with another BB store. Best of luck. |

In my experience Best Buy is pretty cool with pricematching other stores. Their only stipulation (which is a YMMV I think) is that the manager once told me that they can pricematch any store but it also has to be within a reasonable distance away. That is, since I'm in New York City, I can't bring in an ad from a mom and pop store from like Rhode Island or something to pricematch.

an amazon warehouse recently opened less than 30 mins away from the bb down the street, so they've now started price matching certain deals. they were even matching toys r us buy 2 get 1 free deal last week. only problem is that amazon still has bb smoked on selection.
