Default PS3 and reciever problem, please HELP!

Hey guy, heres my setup and problem.

Setup:

Onkyo-tx-804 receiver (supports HDMI 1.3)
xbox 360 and wii, hooked up via component cable
cablebox and ps3 is hooked up via HDMI

Problem:

Ok when watching blu ray movies or playing PS3 games my receiver shuts off randomly. About every 10 min or so. It happens more often when watching movies. Also when on a pause screen during a game and on the main menu that loads up when you power up the PS3, the screen "twitches." (even the ps store) By that I mean the text goes left and right really fast making it hard to read, almost like the text is always moving. (i hope that made sense)
This problem ONLY happens when using my PS3. So I dont know if its my ps3 thats faulty or my receiver. My cable box is also hooked up through HDMI and never have a problem. Ive had my PS3 since January and only encountered problems until a few weeks ago. Its only gotten worse.

Does anyone know if there are some settings on the ps3 that might help me adjust this? I dont know what to do, anyone have any ideas?

When your receiver turns off during movies, is it during extraordinarily loud moments, or just any time? I say this because most receivers have a cut-off to make sure too much power is not sent to the speakers, which would blow them. If it shuts off when a huge explosion occurs, it may be your receiver safe-guarding the speakers (although it should just cut off signals to the speakers, this could be a flaw).

That's a quick thought I have on the subject.

Well the thing is, this just started happening recently, Ive had it since January. I've watched plenty of movies at high volume before. Loud volume wouldnt explain why the PS3 twicthes during a pause screen or the load up screen. HMMM

No, I didn't think it would explain the twitching, that does seem odd, but I was just wondering about it with the sound, since people I know have had that problem before, and they simply had to turn the volume down a couple of notches.

Here's a test that you maybe have done: Connect the PS3 directly to the TV and see what happens about the twitching. Does it still twitch? If you want, you could try this with a movie, and connect the PS3 to the receiver via optical cable, to see if the receiver still shuts off.

I have the same receiver. I had an issue with the ps3 being connected to the receiver as well but I had a different problem. It seemed that when only at certain loading times and what not from the ps3, the receive wouldnt be able to keep up with the signal and would give me a "loss of signal" picture from my tv. I ended up just connecting the hdmi to the tv and optical audio to the receiver and havent had a problem. I think its the receiver to be honest with you... Not sure if this helped but figured id throw my piece in.
