Thumbs up TC-P50S1 help? Please...

Hey all,

I recently purchased a Panasonic 50" S1 series, and have just a couple questions if you could help me out

First of all, in my Blu Ray player set up menu, it allows me to turn 1080p/24p on or off. It says turn it on only if the TV outputs it. I am not sure whether to have it on or off?? The specs for the set say "24p Cinematic Playback: No;
24p Playback(2:3): Yes." I currently have it on, but want to know for sure so that it does not negatively effect the pic.

Also, besides the basic pic settings, are there any other settings I should change? Would a professional calibration really help this set?

Do Blu Ray players affect pic quality? I have an ancient BDP-S300, and wonder if a newer model will help the pic?

I bought the Sears 3 year warranty with the TV, and they said a professional calibration comes with it. Does anyone know if they are ISF or THX certified? If not, I'm not sure if I want them screwing with my TV.

For those who have it, what do you think about the TV? I think I got it pretty cheap at $885.

Thanks!

Joe

Yes you can run 24p/1080p. Only real difference is that you can't adjust it, it's stationary at 60hz (3:2 pull down). Your set will still look amazing with the 300.... as long as you can stand the waiting times.
