Default Disney Blu-ray Release Questions

I am a huge disney fan, and i was hoping some one would have some info on some animated releases...

1)Does anyone have a clue to when Dumbo (U.S.) and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 are going to be released?

2) Does anyone have news on any non diamond edition releases (such as Alice In WOnderland '51, Aladdin, ect.)

Dumbo has apparently been postponed until next Spring for its 70th anniversary. Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 should be released this spring if its coming out this year but it may be released in the winter although that is awfully close to Beauty and the Beast. Alice in Wonderland is rumored to come out when the Tim Burton's comes to 3DBD. Aladdin was rumored for a special edition release next year but that spot might belong to Dumbo now depending on how many special editions Disney plans to release a year. Remember though that these are all rumors.

I'm not an expert, but I might be able to help a little.

-Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are scheduled to be released in December, though that doesn't mean Disney couldn't shuffle it yet again.

-Dumbo as a regular special edition is, if I recall correctly, still scheduled to appear later this year in the US (at least that's what I've read on some sites. Though according to an article from this site, it will be released in the US, in february 2011.

-Aladdin is rumored to be released next year, since it was bumped from the Diamond line - which you know. Though nothing official. There is a placeholder on Amazon, but then again that doesn't say much.

-Alice in Wonderland is getting a dvd-only re-release this month. Though that's just a cheap cash-in. I believe, it was also rumored for next year. Perhaps to accompany the 3D blu-ray Tim Burton's Alice is getting soon - but that's just speculation on my part.

This is all I know so far.

The Dumbo postponement is just bizarre. It's just come out in Europe as a 70th Anniversary Edition, so they don't need to wait a year just to call it that.

maybe Disney delayed Dumbo because it's not part of the Diamond Edition line they're putting out, so maybe it was pushed to focus more on those remaining titles (Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, The Lion King, Bambi, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and 101 Dalmatians).. not sure why they'd do that if it's already basically ready to be released but who knows.. just a theory

Disney hasn't officially said anything about Fantasia/2000.. but they've listed Beauty and the Beast for November 23rd.. they're doing two titles a year.. and B&TB and Fantasia/2000 are supposed to be the 2010 releases.. so maybe December like BD4ME said

Surely if that was the case though, it wouldnt have gotten released in many other countries?

It does seem extremely strange to why it never got released in the US this year, dosent make any sense at all TBH.

Not to mention this...

Pretty sure that says 70th Anniversary. Pinnochio came out in 1940. That BD came out in March '09.

Yeah I'm a little upset to, I love Dumbo. But not enough to import it for $40
from Mexico.

I wish when Disney decided to postpone that they would replace their releases with another title. There are so many titles many of us would love to come to BD but so few are released per year.

We were suppose to get Finding Nemo this year to. Disney is lagging a little, but at least when they do come out the quality is superb.

I think that Disney having just released TS1 & 2, will probably feast on these a few months before releasing anything else. Just my opinion.
I hope I'm wrong.

That is some pretty bad art. I wish Disney would use simpler teaser style posters for their movies, but I guess "kids" movies just need covers packed with marketable characters.

I also wish we could start getting more releases. I hate having to hold onto old DVDs and VHS tapes of these classics.

I collected the platinum series dvds as they were being released (I only missed a couple of them) The ones i have are Lion king, aladdin, little mermaid, peter pan, jungle book, 101 dalmatians, sleeping beauty and pinocchio. even though i had a blu-ray player at the time i decided to finish off the platinum line in dvd because i knew it was inevitable they would re-release those movies so it doesn't seem as much like a double-dip.

i actually like the beauty and the beast art. the platinum's was better. but i think if they reused the platinum's cover a lot of people would be mad about that so give it time. It'll grow on you. Although Toy story and toy story 2 always seem to have bad covers.

You do not know my love of simplicity in covers, lol.

I'd rather have something more along the lines of

Might not look so good on the actual box, but it would look great as a slipcover.

Or something along the lines of just the Rose on the table.

I'm starting to think I need to start getting into those custom coverart threads.
