Default Online functionality for PS2 games?

Anyone know if you can use the online multiplayer functions of certain PS2 games (R&C Up Your Arsenal, for example) with the PS3? I don't own any of those games so I haven't experimented, but if it does work I might be making a trip to my local used games store

I tried one of the older Need for Speed underground games and it hooked to the internet just fine.

Yes, although you may need to re-load some patches for old PS2 games since some may be hardware specific.. i.e. socom games I know you will need to reload the patches.. but they all work online.. as good as they would on a ps2..

If you have trouble with it... there is a free download you can get from teh PlayStation store that lets you make a PS2 system information on your HDD. It lets you run PS2 games online and even download or install PS2 games that have the HDD options.
Most ppl didn't have them but ti worked for me.

Ladies & gentleman, please take a seat and read how to enable PS2 online play on PS3

I posted wondering too but after finding the solution, i thought i should share a 'how to'

1st of all, search through all those old PS2 titles and get all the ones with the shiny Net Play logo, now check the manuals, specifically the online section for a network configuration set up instructions as this means you've found a game with network configuration software built in, alternatively like me, if you have Mortal Kombat Deception, use that and refer to the manual, i beleive you can use any Socom game

Good, now you're a quater way through, PHEW, what hard work. The next step is a little more complicated and is ultimately where you either will or won't be able to use PS2 online.

Let me explain, i had a slimline PS2 which came packaged with a Network access code with the packaged manuals, the network access code is a vital part because you will need it to access Central Station games such as Killzone.

Now, if you don't have a Network access code then i'm sorry, i can't help, you may be able to find one by googling but don't know wether a used code can be used, mine was un-used

Now you need to go to www.yourgamingname.com where you can register your details like PSN, will post rest of instructions shortly

Central Station's a Europe-only thing I think.
