Default Fantastic four storyline

I mistakenly picked up Fantastic Four 2 (while I wanted the first film). Will I understand if I watched the second movie first before watching the first.
If you got an internet link that tells the storyline of FF1, could you tell me?

Default If you want spoilers...

Not really a surprise, but...

The FF and Doom get their powers. Doom tries to break up the newly formed team. They eventually battle as a unified team. The FF wins and Doom, solid molten slag at this point, gets packed off to Latveria in a cargo container on slow freighter.

BTW, the best FF1 movie is the Extended Cut, which I do not believe is what you get when you buy the Blu FF1 version. That's why I have yet to buy FF1in Blu. There are all kinds of deleted scenes and extended scenes that they restored to the Extended Cut that really gets deeper into the characters and makes for an even more enjoyable movie.

You can watch 2 without seeing 1, but I am one of those who loved both.

I highly suggest you read the comic first

That way you can shake your fist with the rest of us when they change stuff for no reason

You can get the entire run through 2006 for under $30 on DVD-ROM (same with many other Marvel titles)

Didn't listen to the commentary on FF2, but supposedly Tim Story was aware of some of the....complaints about FF1--
Some of them he defended, others he solved: You'll notice one scene where the first movie's "turning into metal" Dr. Doom has the steel part of his face forcibly removed, is "cured" back into human-jerk by the Surfer, and then keeps the earlier removed metal faceplate as his "official" mask for battle....That's more like it.

(As for major adjustments: Just get used to the first movie being an irritating Friends-sitcom that handed the entire movie over to the hip-slacker-jerk Torch, and the sequel is only slightly more improved by an actual plot where they fight something...I think.
And no, they still have to write in some "funny" excuse for the Thing to say "It's clobberin' time!", as there's never any actual battle excuse for him to say it.)

i used to get mad at these comic movies taking liberties. but then i started to think of it like this: there are multiple comics for the same character running at the same time. spider-man has what? 3 or 4? i like to think of the movies the same. they are a different universe of these characters. so their origins and storylines may change slightly. that way i can take the movie as is, as opposed to critisizing its differences from the other stories. thats how i get through ghost rider. i liked FF1 and ROTSS because of this too. Iron man looks awesome too.

As a big fan of the comic I thought the second FF movie was a lot better than the first one. In virtually every comic book to be turned into a movie, the clunkiest parts are almost always the telling of the origin of the heroes/villains.

Since your not a comic book nerd like me you should really buy/rent the first ff4 movie before watching silver surfer. Its a sweet film but you will have a much better understanding if you watch the first one. Same goes for x-men ect. Btw FF2 is a awsome movie with kick ass effects your in for a treat!

thanks for the suggestion, but don't you think it's better to buy the BD instead with that price?
I have not watched it yet, and might wait till I get the first film on BD, or at least know the storyline. I'll try to read wikipedia first (well I know it's only limited to main plot, and no details)

thanks for the story. and thanks for the info on extended cut version. I don't really mind getting any version as long as it's in BD. That said, I would want a full uncut version for the movie that I know, I watched, and I liked (like narnia)

Ah a young anime fan

You're missing out on the wonderful, long format independant comics then. Stuff like A Distant Soil, Cerebus (well, the first half of it anyway), Bone and Thieves and Kings.

Oh, he was on that "lost" 80's Roger Corman low-budget B-version, only rewritten as "The Jeweler"...
It's still floating around the lost-video ether, if you ask the right comic-book fan, but be warned--This one's goofy, too.

I'm pretty sure that's Mole Man in the final shot of The Incredibles. Pixar traded for him from Marvel for a third-round draft choice and two underlings to be named later.
