Exclamation Upgrading: Opinions Needed

So the refund check came in (thank you, scholarships) - and I finally get to upgrade. My current set (down below) leaves a little something to be desired for AQ and PQ - so with $1500, should I go first for video and upgrade to a better TV? The one I had in mind was the Philips 42" Ambilight 42PFL7432 1080p. Or I could go the audio way and upgrade to a better receiver, say the Onkyo 605 or the 805 and get some decent speakers.

If there is anything better in video or audio, please let me know, Ive been - researching.

Or I could save the money. ::Shudder::

I currently own a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, I am very pleased with mine and wouldn't trade it for anything else. If you're looking for a bedroom size tv thats the one to get. You will not be disappointed. The Sharp Aquos that I own and my PS3 goes together like a combo meal. The price on it is around $1300 after taxes. It's well worth your money

The best HDTVs on the market are the Samsungs but they cost a little more. If you decide not to get the Sharp Aquos, look for another one with some initiative. Its like buying a car, you have to be very picky and takes time.

I would say at that price you should be able to find the Sharp Aquos 42" at Circuit City or Frys, Best Buy usually has it for a little more money, but they will price match. I would say that is much better than a phillips.

You could always look at a good 720P projector. Panasonic are highly regarded for their projectors and you could get a Panasonic PT-AX200U with screen, cable and ceiling moutn from projectorpeople.com for $1700. They have similar deals for other projectors as well.

Projectors would look out of sync in my living room - it wouldnt feel right.

I was actually considering the Sharp Aquos - but around these forums Ive read of some users who have had pixel problems and I would like to avoid those - also trying to enlarge from 32". Samsungs or Sony's seem out of my price range but Costco does have some 40" Bravias or Samsungs for around $1600, so I'll definitely consider those. And I'm definitely staying away from such things as LG, Westinghouse, Olevia, Magnavox, etc. But I like Vizio, but I need a step up, Ill move my current TV and Panny into the BR and keep the PS3 in the living room.

I drool over the Pioneer Elites or XBRs. In the future.
