PS3 audio optical cable - Blu-ray Forum

Hey guys, I had a basic question I was hoping you could help me with. I know there's an optical audio outlet on the back of the PS3 as well as my TV. If I connect these two with an optical cable, will the sound be better?

You will be better off using the HDMI if you have the means.
