Hello and thank you for your time,
I have the following equipment that I need help with: 1. Sony PS3 80 gig blu-ray player. 2. Sony KDS-R70XBR2 television. 3. Pioneer Elite VSX-49TXi Receiver How I have it all connected: From the playstation 3 to the television using an HDMI cable, from the playstation 3 to the receiver using an optical cable. The receiver does not have HDMI connections is why I have to use an optical cable. So what should my setting be set on? The playstation 3 is new to me so I don’t know if I have the setting set correctly. Been reading and reading the owner manual(s), but its now 11:35 and I am about to give up. Thank you again for your help, |

What kind of problems are you having? Is it not working for you?

I am getting sound but it seems to be week in sounding. If I use my Pioneer DV-59AVi (fire-wire conection) I get better sound from that DVD player then from the Sony Blu-ray.
When I use the 59AVi player I can see the speakers working. That is on the front panel of the receiver it shows my front's, my center, rear's, and side's along with my woffers. But, nothing with the PS3. What should I have my setting set to? PCM, Bit...etc. Last edited by MadScientist; 12-08-2007 at 04:44 AM. |

From what I understand if you are using optical wire for your audio, I think it would be best on bitstream.

fyi, when you plug in the HDMI cable and go through setup, it defaults your audio out through HDMI as well as the video. Go into the sound settings and make sure optical is selected. This fixed it with 3 people I've helped set up..
Good luck |
