Arrow The Last Witch Hunter

Quote:
When vampires and werewolves are all the rage with kids these days, why not toss witches into the mix, too? That's Summit Entertainment's thought as Deadline says the production company has paid top dollar for a pitch from Cory Goodman (who also wrote the forthcoming Priest for Scott Stewart) for a film called The Last Witch Hunter, a story about, you guessed it, the last remaining witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them. Making this all the more interesting is Timur Bekmambetov's (Wanted) attachment as director.

Bekmambetov will primarily help out as a producer on the project (he most recently produced the animated flick 9 with Tim Burton), and I have to say this sounds like the most promising employment of old horror elements in a long time. I can't say much in comparison to the Underworld series, since I haven't seen any of films in that franchise, but this concept sounds very cool and with Bekmambetov's involvement, it's sure to be edgy and unique in vision. Anything to bring some excitement to this kind of story while teenage girls are preoccupied with Twilight. Let's just hope Timur doesn't back out from directing before shooting starts.
