Coming out in late September, Optimum release so not sure on region coding.

Looks like a nice release, if this has extras I will probably get it because the Aussie one thats out now is bare bones with just the movie.

Looking forward to the StudioCanal Collection, and The Deer Hunter in particular. Let's hope they also invest some time and money in picture- and soundquality, not just on the packaging.

I'm holding out to see if the U.S. ever gets the Cimino commentary that the UK DVD did. I might pounce on this though. Just maybe.

Nope, they generally seem to be locked. They have some region free ones, but it seems to be getting rarer and rarer.

This release is great news. The Deer Hunter is a great film, and I cannot wait to add it to my Blu-ray library.

Oh, that's just unfair. I want this so bad and yet I am teased with a probable Region B disc. Arggh

It's all good though. Can't wait to see a stateside release.

Seeing as I have both a Region A player as well as a Region B player, I'll be adding this bad boy to my Blu-ray library. I urge more people who live in the United States and Canada to purchase a Region B player. You won't regret it, I assure you. That way you can always have the very best releases.

It's been available in Australia for months in a very nice transfer with DTS HD MA audio.

The only reason for me to replace it with this new UK version would be if there are some interesting extras or it has Cimino's commentary. The Australian release is just the movie.

The picture on the Aus release is pretty nice. I really like the film.
