Default Toshiba Getting Desperate Now - Giving Away HD-DVD Players!

Read on another forum that Toshiba is now GIVING AWAY HD-DVD players with a purchase of their qualifying TV's. Man oh man. I don't know what to say. Very sad, but hey - what a better way to get rid of your trash than to give it away?

Now let's be consistant here, BDA companies have been doing this for months and it wasn't called throwing away the trash then.

I read in one of the articles they said.. "We still believe that HD DVD is preferred format by consumers.."...said this AFTER the Warner announcement....in frikken response to it!

They cancelled their little party at CES though.

<prints t-shirt.>

"I survived HD DVD"

...I bought blu-ray.

No...that's not fair.

I've seen promos by Sony, when you buy a Sony TV, you get a free Blu Ray Player.

I never once even look at a Toshiba brand for LCD.

I'll go for Samsung, Sharp, or Sony for LCD.

If I want cheap LCD, then I'll go with Olevia?

Well, all of the BDA manufacturers are also giving away their players with their TVs. But the real question, why the hell is Toshiba bothering with this crap, it's just pulling more people into a dead format. And they say they are doing what is best for the consumer? Yeah, whatever...

Which Tosh player is it? Is it one of the throw-away 1080i sets? If so, it IS getting rid of the trash.

At least the BDA was bundling full featured blu sets with the televisions, not crippled players.

Knowing what we know now (in regards to WB), it's a little different than the BDA companies giving away free players.

However, Toshiba has done this before several times now...

Well, the thing here is - Toshiba is now KNOWINGLY misleading customers for the sake of padding their pockets. After the Warner announcement - Toshiba should have pulled the plug on "freebies and rebates" like this if they REALLY wanted to help the consumers.

Yet they continue to deceive the consumer and pushing obsolete hardware. Very sad.

It's Sunday. This is a new retail week. This promotion would've been planned well before Friday's news.

Microsoft said not word CES center stage about HD-DVD and did there presentations with Sony Vaio notebooks.Toshiba is feeling pretty low right now .I cant blame them for giving players away...heck nobody with a right mind is going to buy one.
This war is over!
