Default HTIB Onkyo HT-SR700?

Anyone heard the Onkyo HT-SR700 in action? Not looking to break the funds much since I have a kid due in 2 months and a parking ticket of a couple hundred bucks lol. I dont have a 1080p tv and live in an apartment so its not like i need something to crank up really loud.

The Onkyo HT-SR700 is actually pretty descent. The receiver itself, however, is not that same as the stand alone TX-SR705. From my recollection the receiver is a toned down 705 without the ability to transfer audio via HDMI.

But overall... it's not bad... good bang for the buck.

I would get the Onkyo HT-SR800.

.
Its nothing like the TX-SR705. The only thing they share in common is the "Onkyo" branding.

The TX-SR705 is a whole other beast to itself. It decodes all the newest audio codecs, its THX certified, and has more power.

Just don't be fooled about the HDMI inputs and outputs on the receiver though. They merely act as switchers because the receiver doesn't decoded audio thru HDMI. However it is still the best home theater in a box that you can get, and its pretty cheap. The receiver that comes in the box is actually the TX-SR575. SO you still get a real good receiver.

Theres the link. $459.99 right now.

Not many people here are going to recommend HTIB's but if you're on a budget then its the best one to get.
