Default DLP bulbs...

I have a Sumsung Projection DLP. I think the bulbs are going out. What is a website that I can order new bulbs? How easy is it to replace them also? This is my first time doing this, and need guidance. White lines started flashing on my screen, so I turned it off overnight. Then this morning it started flashing the white lines after about 30 minutes of being on. Do i need new bulbs, or is there something else wrong?

Usually when a bulb is going out the picture will just get more dim. How long have you had your TV? I think it is something other than the lamp, but of course I cannot be sure w/out more information of the problem. Once again, how long have you had your TV? That's the big question concerning the bulb.

I bought the TV from a friend of mine. I have had it about 2 years, and he had a year or 2 before he sold it to me. So its probably about 3 or 4 years old

Just be careful, some places will appear cheaper but they will only send you the bulb and you will have to open the bulb casing\mount to replace it. A real replacement should be bulb+casing.

In the US, lookup: J&J (Samsungparts.com) 1-800-627-4368

On the side of your set is an Orange Sticker that lists the replacement bulb number.

Also on the back of your TV is your model number followed by several codes, I would recommend calling a professional shop and have them access the Sammy Tech support system and make sure your manufactured run and replacement bulb is correct before ordering one.

BE CAREFUL - If you have had any upgrades to your set your bulb number could change. I had a new light engine replaced in my set and it took the service guy a few tries to find a buld that worked. Fortunately I had the extended warrenty and my Tech was very good.

You have to remove several screws to expose the bulb and access the area. It isnt that difficult to replace the bulb, but if you have a replacement warrenty I would have a tech do it. The replacement bulbs are not small nor cheap (although they are cheaper then they were a few years ago).

The replacement bulb on my Sammy was $250 (free cause I have the replacement plan). Tad expensive to just have "waiting for failure"

You may check AVS, as the technical aspect of their forum is still very good. Unless you have heard from others w/ this TV that the picture starts looking like that when the lamp begins to go out, I would still suspect it to be something else.

As nhaase said it sound like something else. As lamps get old they get dimmer & at the end of the life the colors change, normaly yellowish/orange.

Is in under a warranty??? is so use in NOW!!! is mostliky needs a new light engine, about $1k

If it is the bulb, you can order one from here: http://www.partstore.com/MiniSites/P...g/Samsung.aspx

I bought one as a spare for my samsung HLS5687w, cost about 200 bucks.

It is an actual Samsung bulb, not aftermarket.

One of the best sites I've seen as far as availability, price, inventory and knowledge is this:

http://www.discount-merchant.com/default.asp

They also sell the bulb by itself or the bulb and the casing depending on your preference. I hope this helps and good luck.

I had a DLP that the screen wouldn't come on but you could still hear sound. and this happened after 1 month of owning it. i returned it and got a plasma. i think DLPs have too many problems.
