Yes I did use the search button, and I couldn't find an answer to my question. Anyways, I have basic cable (Disney, ABC, NBC, CBS, Nick, Comedy Central etc.) hooked up to my HDTV and I don't have an HD antenna or premium channels. So I have all the regular channels, but I also get extra channels. Like channel 9 is NBC, but channel 9-1 is NBC in HD. Same with some other channels. Plus sometimes I get (I assume) On Demand channels, which is weird because I could be watching the movie and all of the sudden it will rewind or fast forward on it's own (I don't have the ability to control the movie). Sometimes it loses signal altogether. When Mr. Woodcock came out on DVD and Blu-ray it came on one of the extra channels I get in SD the same day. So how am I getting these channels? I mean I'm not paying extra for them so what gives? Is it considered over the air even though I'm not using an antenna? Just a newbieish question I never got around to ask.

1. The channels are provided by the cable company for a limited period to encourage you to buy them. 2. You have faulty equipment. 3. It is possible your cable wires are crossed with one of the neighbors. 4. Even without an external anntena, TVs sometimes pick up signals. 5. You have to make sure you are not being charged. You need to call the cable company. 6. It is an act of god. Enjoy it while you can. |
