Default Playing Regular DVDs on a PS3

I've watched some standard DVDs on my Sony PS3, and while the quality is obviously not as good as BluRay, it usually looks as good or better than watching regular DVDs on a regular player.

However, I started watching a standard DVD of Michael Clayton on my PS3 the other night and noticed that it looked surprisingly fuzzy (especially considering that it's a new movie). I then took the disc out and played it in a regular upconvert DVD player that we have and it looked fine. Anyone else have these problems on a PS3 or with that film in particular? I know I should be watching MC on BluRay instead, but I can't afford to get everything I want in BluRay just yet.

It might be the PS3 trying to upconvert to 1080p. maybe you can adjust the PS3 settings? Just my .02
