Default Onkyo SR 605 and Speaker Setup

Hi Guys,

I have an Onkyo SR 605 AV Reciever and my 5.1 Speakers are 2x JMLab Focal Chorus 716 (Floor Standing) for the Fronts, Chorus CC 700S for the Center and 2x Chorus 705S for the Surrounds. I've read that the Fronts should be set to small even though they aalso supply a killer bass. However, the Onkyo doesn't have such settings for the Speakers (Small or Large), just db Settings. I ran the Auddesey, but the Bass is a bit to much. In fact, I would even say it's unproportional. So my Question to fellow 605 Owners is how would you guys suggest I set up for optimal Audio Performance?

I would be grateful for all Tips!!

Cheers

Scooby

On the 605 when you go into your speaker setup, 'Full Band" would be considered the LARGE setting. It means that it is sending all of the audio to the speakers with no crossover point.
What you can do is adjust the crossover to a level of your liking, stoping the lower frequencies from going to your front speakers...in essence a SMALL setting.
General rule of thumb is to try the crossover point around 80Hz and see how you like the sound. It will take some tweaking but I'm sure you will find a point that you like and won't have to worry about low frequencies heading to your speakers.
