Low power HTPC with Blu-ray possibilities? - Blu-ray Forum

I would love to build a very low power HTPC with Blu-ray possibility.
The Blu-ray is not what it's going to do most, - so the power consumption of the blu-ray drive is not crucial. But the HTPC will be running 24/7 so low power consumption of the rest is important.

If possible a fan-less setup would be preffered.

I am thinking about the Atom processor.
Would that be powerfull enough to do 1080p?

the new 45w athlons should do the trick, but I wouldn't run any modern system fanless. You can get low noise fans, run 120mm fan at low rpm

use microATX, and make sure you get a good video card (what are people recommending, the 2800 series?). Do not use a latptop drive, because they're not designed for 24/7 running. Get a server model HD if you can.

If all you're doing is stream writing you can probably get away with under 100w draw
