Default HDMI Cable question

I have a TV, the Samsung 46" 1080P LCD, that is a little over a year old. It was right before 1.3 HDMI came out so I have 1.1. If I get a receiver that is HDMI 1.3 compatible will I have problems with the two? The second part of the question is, am I being limited in anyway by not having a TV that is 1.3 compatible? Meaning am I not going to be able to utilize some of the codecs, etc.?

As far as cables go, you'll be fine. The .1 etc is only for the hardware aspect of hdmi. So any hdmi cable should be able to carry a 1.3 signal. As far as are you missing codecs and what not. Well the tv wouldn't be responsible for the codecs. What you would be missing are a few features that 1.3 brings, most noticeably deep color. For the codecs, it depends on what version your receiver and player is. And finally, no you won't have problems with a 1.3 version receiver. You just won't be able to use the deep color aspect for the tv.

You'll be fine. Your TV doesn't decode any of the advanced codecs that are passed over HDMI 1.3 (I don't think any TV does). The only thing you are missing is support for deep colour, but no commercial recordings use it yet.
