HDMI cable question/help

I have a Sony BDP-S300 that i've had for 2 years now - have had no problems with it at all but I will be purchasing a BDP-S570 next month as I like the new features. I will be giving my S300 to my parents and want to know the best HDMI cable to purchase for them so that they may connect it to their Sony HDTV (no audio equipment is involved). When I bought the player, I purchased a Monster HDMI cable (I know, I spent too much, but I didn't know any different 2 years ago). The cable does not have to long at all, but I want to make sure I buy reliable one - or all they all the same? Some are gold plated which I've always been told are "better" - but I thought i'd ask here first. Also, do I need to concern myself with HDMI 1.1 or 1.3? I do not recall which one was sold to me when I purchased the one I own and use now.
