In the latest CNET TV Prizefight, Veronica Belmont pits the Xbox 360 against the highly coveted PlayStation 3, and it's neck and neck. The exclusion of the Wii in this Prizefight is enough to cause grumbling, but the Wii is less of a hard-core gaming and multimedia beast than these superpricey consoles. Game wise, the 360 has the edge thanks to a year's headstart, like you would expect.

see where the games are this time next year or better yet two years from now. I think you'll see the competitive edge in favor of playstation. They kicked xbox six ways to tuesday with an inferior system in the ps2, I can only imagine what they'll do now.

the xbox 360 has more games because it's been out for a year. But the games are nothing to talk about, cuz all I hear is Gears of war. But, I think the 360 is way more technically superior.

Gears of War is their champion and nothing will come close to it for a while. I dont even think Halo 3 is going to really bring in many new buyers for the system, Gears already got everyone who was on the fence in already. After Halo 3, which i have 0 interest in, they have nothing left in their corner. Literally. And the only other decent games the 360 does have, are multi-platform. So to say the 360 has a weak lineup for the most part is an understatement, without gears the system has nothing worth bringing to the table.

You can think that now, because we havent seen the A-Game of the PS3 yet. But you and i will, and you will agree that the PS3 will have the best looking exclusive games on either format. Gears does look awesome, but epic was said that it pushed all 3 cores on the 360 to 95%. Tapped out much? You betcha. I think games from now on will strive to do anything to look like Gears and of course, fail. However, PS3 and sony has some amazing 1st and 2nd party teams that really know what they are doing. I'd put God Of War 1/2 against a LOT of xbox 360 games graphically anytime and we're talking PS2.

Trust when i say, the PS3 is going to take it home again. All the doom/gloom campaigning microsoft has been doing by Viral Marketing is dyeing down, and magazines, developers and gamers are now all coming to the PS3 in spades. I predict we will see an absolutely AMAZING holiday season for the PS3 this year, especially with the format war all but decided in the favor of blu-ray, people will now say "shoot, i really want to play *insert exclusive ps3 game here* AND blu-ray is the format of the future, ill take that!". It is literally microsofts worst nightmare about to come true, that blu-ray will help sony win the console wars.

Wait untile game developers start to use the full space of a blu-ray disc to make the game even better...currently i am pretty sure that most games are only using the space that a dvd would take for a ps2 game

It just sucks there's so many cross-platform titles. PS3 lost so many exclusives, and those are obviously going to be way better than any of the other games. With March under 20 days away, people will very soon be seeing what the PS3 can do.

what exclusives has it lost? saying PS3 lost alot of exclusives is not true

PS3 still has FF13, FFvs13, Killzone, MGS4, GT5, and DMC 4 all exclusive (Kingdom Hearts will probably be a PS3 exclusive as well )

Again, what worthwhile exclusives has PS3 lost? The only big exclusive the PS brand has lost recently is GTA

As for the 360 having better graphics...like blitz6 said, the 360 is already nearly maxed. The PS3 on the other hand has 8 seperate processors to handle the load. These are tougher to develop for but the potential is enormous, far exceeding the 360. Sony's Phil Harrison said the PS3 will never be maxed out.

You can expect developers to keep squeezing more and more out of the PS3 while the 360 looks to have hit the end of the road already

Assasins Creed, UT3, Virtua Fighter 5 to name a few. For a system that just came out, even just those few are considered alot of games. This generation there are going to be ALOT less exclusives, which sucks.

I don't think people will buy systems based on the availability of those 3 games. Games that sell systems are Halo, Final Fantasy etc

It may seem like PS3 is losing alot of exclusives compared to the 360, but the truth is the 360 has so much to gain and PS3 has so much to lose.

As long as PS3 has the games you mention, does it really matter Xbox has them as well? Those who were patient enough to wait 12 months for the PS3 will be rewarded with pretty much every good game there is. If your like me and dont care much for shooters, Halo 3 (which will be on PC eventually) and GOW don't matter and PS3 will once again provide all you want

I agree with you. It's just upsetting because since they are going to be on all platforms, the developers usually have to work for the least common denominator.. making the PS3's game lose some of it's value. Exclusive games are always better. I know the PS3 will have it's time very soon.

I totally forgot about that. It is true multiplatform games will always suffer because of the differences in consoles.

Don't let the 360 or Wii hype bother you. Your investment will pay off in a much grander way than the 360 or Wii for reasons I'm sure you're aware of

Remember:

These days, all "exclusive" really means is: Your system or platform gets to sit on that title for maybe 6-12 months before it ports out anyways.

First party titles being the usual exceptions, of course.

IMHO, I think the PS3 is currently lacking the quirky games that the PS1 & 2 were revered for. Games such as Parappa the Rapper, Katamari Damacy and others separated the Sony brand from Microsoft and Nintendo. They were tons of simple games that focused on fun and delivered in spades. They commanded the 3rd party market and steamrolled everyone else in sales and still do.

While I agree that Sony should be focusing on mainstream, blockbuster titles at the moment, I don't believe they should forget the reason why so many fans bought into the Sony brand in the first place. I think that once they get a few A+ titles in the market and accompany them with some exclusive, addictive, simple titles they will chip away at the inflated Wii market share and begin to catch up to the 360.

Now FWIW: A lot of those titles that you named didn't show up until a good year two into the lives of the previous PlayStations. It's just a matter of time, but yes, it would behoove them to get crackin' on original titles like that ASAP.

What really anoys me is the fact that people can say the xbox 360 is better then ps3.
Name (if you think 360 is better) one way 360 is better, and i want facts not opinions.

The xbox has 3 processors but the playstation3 has 8.

The ps3 games can hold more data (up to 50gb)then a xbox game (9gb)

The xbox has a blu-ray, dvd player and a cd player built in. Xbox only has a DVD and CD player. Although you can get a HD-DVD player for it.

The playstation3 has motion sensitive controls - the 360 is just an old fashion control.

The Playstation 3 dusnt have a huge external power box.

The PS3 (60gb hard drive version) has built in car readers.

The ps3 can save videos to the hard drive.

The PS3 Net is free.

You get free voice and Video calls with the ps3.

It has the best Exclusive games.

The playstation 3 grafix is about the same as the xbox 360, and the ps3 has just begun, and did you know that the games on 360 that take up most prossesing power (from 75%-90% of all 3 processors together)Take up about the same percentage on just 2 or less of the ps3's Processors! Just remember that the ps3 has 8 processors.

All of these are facts! Just give the ps3 a year, or even less and everyone will see the huge difference between the ps3 and the 360.

I must say that Gears of war was an amazing game! Everything about it was exactly what next gen games should have but just like it had been said already, it took up 95% (94.7% to be exact) of the 360 power to acomplish this amazment. The Ps3 is just a ticking time bomb.
