PS3 disconnects laptops from the net when booting up

Can anyone explain to me why my PS3 disconnects every laptop on my wireless network from the Internet when it boots up? This is what happens....

Laptops are connected to my network with full Internet access
I turn on my PS3
It tried to connect to my network and succeeds
My laptops lose Internet connection, then regain it 30 seconds later but AFTER my PS3 does
It sees my TVersity media server, connects and then loses connection to it. 30 seconds later it finds it again and stays connected.

This is the cycle that happens everytime I turn my PS3 on and it's really annoying me. My fiance sits next to me and is always on her laptop when I'm playing games or watching Blu-ray movies and it's annoying for her laptop to lose Internet connection for no reason like this. Any ideas?
